Who should read this manual?

This document provides the definitive description of the features and functions provided by the RefTracker client interface.  It should be read by ALL levels of staff using the RefTracker product as it covers how to use the client interface (so that staff can assist clients in its use), and the ways in which it can be incorporated into your library web pages, and used in conjunction with other products.

Some libraries have staff in public areas use the client interface to obtain standard answers to clients and to submit questions they cannot answer face to face so that these staff only need to be trained in the client interface that they will be assisting clients with. 

There is help built into the RefTracker client interface pages, and the simple design of these pages means that training is not necessary for clients who use this interface.

Where to obtain assistance in relation to RefTracker?

The RefTracker help system provides a complete and detailed definition of how to use RefTracker.  It is accessible from the book shaped icon in the header of every RefTracker screen.  When you click on the help system icon, it brings up help for the particular page that you are currently on.  A header on each help page, provides access to the all other pages in the RefTracker help system, so use it to find helpful information. 

If the help does not provide an answer, please ask your nominated RefTracker Supervisor or System administrator for assistance. 

Client functions

The RefTracker client interface allows anyone with a web browser to submit questions to your library, check on questions previously submitted, and search the knowledge base of questions that you develop using RefTracker. You can incorporate the RefTracker client interface features into your library’s web pages for client use, and you can use the client interface features in conjunction with other products like online reference products.
